Man Utd Preview: Improved performance

In midweek, Manchester United put in one of their best performances of the Ruben Amorim era as they shared a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie in a game in which they did reasonably deserve better.

That came off the back of another failure last weekend, though, as they suffered a defeat to Fulham on penalties in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford. They remain tucked inside the bottom-half, too, and Amorim needs a strong end to the campaign.

Arsenal Preview: Gunning for more

Arsenal enjoyed a magnificent performance and result in the Round of 16 of the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League in midweek as the Gunners annihilated Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven by seven goals to one at the Philips Stadion in the Netherlands.

Mikel Arteta’s side had a week off last weekend as they have already been knocked out of the FA Cup and that will have helped their trip to the continent. They have allowed Liverpool to build up a 13-point lead at the top-of-the-table in the Premier League, though.

Man Utd Team News: Dorgu suspension & fresh doubts

Winter transfer window signing Patrick Dorgu is missing through suspension for the Red Devils this weekend following his recent red card against Ipswich Town. England international defender Harry Maguire is a doubt alongside Uruguay international midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Onana; Yoro, De Ligt, Lindelof; Mazraoui, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Garnacho, Hojlund, Zirkzee

Unavailable: Bayindir (Injured), Evans (Injured), Martinez (Injured), Shaw (Fitness), Dorgu (Suspended), Mainoo (Injured), Mount (Injured), Diallo (Injured)

Questionable: Maguire (Injured), Ugarte (Injured)

Arsenal Team News: Nothing new

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are set to be back for Arsenal next month but remain sidelined alongside Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. Myles Lewis-Skelly has returned from suspension with no further injury news confirmed by the club or from Arteta.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard

Unavailable: Tomiyasu (Injured), Havertz (Injured), Saka (Injured), Martinelli (Injured), Jesus (Injured)

Man Utd vs Arsenal Prediction

Manchester United, aside from their performance against Real Sociedad, have been at their best under Amorim against the stronger sides in the Premier League with four points collected from two matches in the league away at both Manchester City and Liverpool, as well as a penalty shootout victory over Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup. Arsenal, though, played some really swift and slick football the other day and United’s fairly lethargic defence would mean the visitors will be favourites for this one at Old Trafford.
