Man City Preview: Needing to stop the rot
It has to be said that the international break probably came at a good time for Pep Guardiola's out-of-form Man City side, who are currently riding a four-game losing streak in all competitions that stands as their worst winless run for over 18 years.
Only two of those defeats were in the Premier League, however, and victory over Spurs here would put them to within two points of league leaders Liverpool, who don't play until Sunday.
Tottenham Preview: Plagued by inconsistency
Tottenham have been the epitome of inconsistency in the Premier League, with their last six league games seeing them alternate between a win and a loss as Ange Postecoglou struggles to get the best out of his team on a regular basis.
Their most recent defeat at home to promoted side Ipswich was a particularly frustrating one for fans as it followed an excellent 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Man City Team News: Kovacic blow
Mateo Kovacic is set to be out for up to a month in the latest injury setback in Pep Guardiola's squad, but defensive trio John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake have been passed fit.
Jack Grealish and Phil Foden have also been spotted in training but the availability of Matheus Nunes and Jeremy Doku is unclear.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Stones, Gvardiol; Lewis, Gundogan; Foden, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland
Unavailable: Dias (Injured), Rodri (Injured, Kovacic (Injured), Bobb (Injured)
Questionable: Simpson-Pusey (Injured), O'Reilly (Injured), Nunes (Injured), Doku (Injured)
Tottenham Team News: Defensive absentees
Centre-back Cristian Romero joins Micky van de Ven on the sidelines after sustaining a toe injury whilst on international duty with Argentina, meaning Ben Davies will likely partner Radu Dragusin at the back.
Mikey Moore is still out with a virus, and Rodrigo Bentancur begins a seven-match ban handed him by the independent regulatory commission for a racial slur.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bissouma, Sarr; Johnson, Solanke, Son
Unavailable: Romero (Injured), Van de Ven (Injured), Bentancur (Suspended), Moore (Illness), Richarlison (Injured), Odobert (Injured)

Man City vs Tottenham Prediction
Tottenham have had some success against Man City in recent seasons, and you'd be forgiven for thinking that they could do a number over them here given the champions' poor form before the international window.
It is difficult to see Pep Guardiola - fresh off signing a two-year extension to his contract - allowing standards to continue to slip though. A big response can be expected from City here, and this shaky Spurs side will struggle to contain the backlash, especially as they are missing both their first-choice centre-backs for this fixture.
