Malcolm Wellmaker vs Cameron Saaiman prediction

Malcolm Wellmaker enters the UFC with an unbeaten 8-0 record and he earned his shot in the UFC thanks to his win over Adam Bramhald in Dana White’s Contender Series last August. The 30-year-old will now step up to the big time and it will be interesting to see if he can make the jump. He is well-rounded and has multiple routes to victory.

He takes on South African Cameron Saaiman (9-2) who is a fellow graduate from the Contender Series. He won his first three fights in the UFC but has lost his last two and those are his first losses in his professional MMA career. The big test for Saaiman is how he handles those losses psychologically especially as he was TKO’d in his last fight in March last year by Payton Talbott.

There is very little to choose between these two fighters as Wellmaker is at the same stage as Saaiman was not so long ago as that unbeaten rising star. Saaiman has that greater experience in the Octagon and despite the losses in his last two, he has tasted victories in big events at UFC 282, UFC 285 and UFC 290.

That could well count for something coming into this fight and it is the South African who has fought the higher-calibre of opponent.

This really is a pick’em fight but we are leaning towards Saaiman getting back to winning ways and those factors mentioned just giving him the edge.

Prediction: Cameron Saaiman to win
