Both teams could really use three points for different reasons. For Mainz they need to win if they want to stay inside the top six, whilst for Stuttgart a victory keeps them inside the top four and those all-important Champions League spots. Both are on the opposite ends of the form scale, with Stuttgart winning each of their last four in all competitions and Mainz suffering back-to-back defeats.

In a bid to try and get back to winning ways, it would be no surprise to see Mainz deploy an ultra-offensive style of play here in an attempt to take the game to Stuttgart.
