Mainz vs Augsburg Prediction

After having lost three of their last four Bundesliga matches, Mainz’s momentum has been stalled but they are still inside the top six heading into this latest round of fixtures. Back at home though, they’ll be confident of putting another three points on the board, although in-form Augsburg pose a stiff test.

The visitors boast clear daylight now between themselves and the bottom three after having racked up ten points from the last 12 available to them, drawing one and winning three of their last four. However, they are coming off the back of defeat in the DFB-Pokal at the hands of Stuttgart this past Tuesday.

Whilst Augsburg drew a blank in the cup, they are usually a fairly potent side going forward and should cause Mainz plenty of problems. But at the home, Mainz will likely try and take the game to their opponents and push bodies forward whenever possible, knowing the important of three points. This contest could go either way, but backing both teams to score represents a smart play.
