Magda Linette vs Jessica Pegula Prediction

After an injury-forced retirement in the round of 16 of the Abu Dhabi Open last month, there were some concerns surrounding Magda Linette’s fitness heading into her first-round encounter with Peyton Stearns on Wednesday, but she put those fears to bed with a battling three-set victory over the American.

Her reward is a second-round contest with another American, Jessica Pegula, who enters the tournament as the world number four.

Pegula should be in confident mood owing to the fact she won her seventh ATP Singles title just last week at the ATX Open. As the top seed in that event, the 31-year-old dropped just one set on her way to her first title on home soil.

Linette will have drawn confidence from her victory over Stearns, but a confident Pegula is a step-up in quality and we’re backing the number four seed to prevail in straight sets.
