Madison Keys made a disappointing start to her clay court season with a second-round defeat to Anna Kalinskaya. Keys has featured in just three tournaments since her landmark victory in Melbourne at the start of the year. She did well in Indian Wells, making the semi-finals before Aryna Sabalenka exacted revenge for her slam final loss, but the American has suffered early exits in her two most recent events.

Lucia Bronzetti claimed a scalp in the first-round by defeating four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka in three sets. The match could have gone either way, with each player having more than 12 break point opportunities but the Italian claimed a late break in the third to get the match wrapped up.

They’ve never played each other before on clay but Keys has comfortably won their two matches, in the United Cup and at the Auckland Classic. We can see nothing else but a straight sets win for Keys.
