Paulo Fonseca will not be in the dugout for Olympique Lyonnais as his former club and fellow European chasers Lille make the trip to Parc OL for this intriguing clash this weekend.

Lyon Preview: Chaotic Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais have been chaotically run off the pitch by American owner John Textor and they could still face administrative relegation this season but the decision, bizarre at the time, to replace Pierre Sage with Paulo Fonseca proved to be quite an impressive one in January.

That said, Fonseca is now suspended for the next eight months due to dissent and Lyon actually come into this one on the back of a 4-2 defeat against fellow European chasers Strasbourg in an entertaining clash at Stade de la Meinau last weekend.

Lille Preview: Easy on the eye Lille

Lille replaced Paulo Fonseca, who departed the club for AC Milan last summer, with former Stade Rennais boss Bruno Genesio and the northerners have played a generally impressive style of football as they sit just outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots.

The visitors have been inconsistent and unconvincing in this calendar year and come into this one on the back of a narrow victory in the Derby du Nord against Lens at Stade Pierre-Mauroy last weekend courtesy of a 19th minute winner scored by Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

Lyon Team News: Still no Fofana

Lyon have an abundance of attacking options, which is partly responsible for their potential aforementioned administrative relegation, but Belgium international attacker Malick Fofana is missing through a knee injury for the hosts.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Perri; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Niakhate, Abner; Tessmann, Veretout; Nuamah, Tolisso, Mikautadze; Lacazette

Unavailable: Kumbedi (Suspended), Fofana (Injured)

Lille Team News: Still no Zhegrova

Kosovo international attacker Edon Zhegrova, who was heavily linked with a move to Napoli in the winter, is still sidelined for Lille due to a groin injury. They also have issues defensively as centre-back Alexsandro is missing through suspension.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Chevalier; Meunier, Diakite, Mandi, Ismaily; Mukau, Andre, And. Gomes; Bakker, David, Fernandez-Pardo

Unavailable: Alexsandro (Suspended), Umtiti (Injured), Santos (Injured), Zhegrova (Injured), Mbappe (Injured)

Lyon vs Lille Prediction

There have been 89 goals in Lyon’s 27 Ligue 1 matches. They have been thrilling to watch at both ends of the pitch as they begin the weekend sitting just about outside of the top six. They now face a Lille side that are a lot more controlled in the way they play but due to a desire to be dominant on the ball, they can leave themselves open so the likelihood is for another entertaining encounter at Parc OL this weekend.

Lyon vs Lille Tip: Over 2.5 goals
