Having won three of their five league phase games to date, Lyon are performing as expected in the Europa League and are in a strong position to claim one of the automatic qualifying spots. With a tough Matchday 7 fixture at Fenerbahce to come in January though, they will be keen to avoid defeat here.

The French side have claimed wins over Olympiakos, Rangers and most recently Qarabag, in amongst a 2-2 draw at Hoffenheim and a surprise home defeat at the hands of Besiktas. That loss is in fact their only reverse in their last 14 games in all competitions, so they are carrying a fair degree of confidence into this fixture.

Eintracht Frankfurt, though, have made an even stronger start to the inaugural league phase, following a dramatic draw against Viktoria Plzen – during which the Czech side scored twice late on to claim a point – with four successive victories to leave them on 13 points from a possible 15

The German outfit were flying on all fronts until very recently, winning seven in a row in all competitions until a 3-0 loss at Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal was followed by a 2-2 draw at home to Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

In all likelihood, both teams would settle for a point in this one, as they will fancy themselves in at least one of their other remaining league phase fixtures. With neither side wanting to give an inch, the smart money could be on a share of the spoils.
