Luke Woodhouse vs Lourence Ilagan Prediction

Luke Woodhouse will be hoping to do better than his performance at the Worlds last year as he was eliminated in the first round by Berry van Peer. He has had a decent 2024 with some good results including a sixth-round finish at the UK Open and a semi-final at the European Championship. He will want to finish the year on a high however and at least make it into the next round here.

He meets Philippine veteran Lourence Ilagan who makes his ninth appearance at Ally Pally. He has only ever won one match in the tournament and that came back in 2023 before he lost to Dmitri van den Bergh in the second round. Otherwise, it has been lean pickings for the 46-year-old. 

It is hard to make for this one going much better for Ilagan. While he has had some success on the Asian Tour this season, this is such a step up, it is hard to see him competing with Woodhouse here. Expect the higher-ranked player to win, and he is unlikely to lose a set also.
