Luke Littler vs Ryan Meikle Prediction

Recently named the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year, you could argue that no sports star has ever experienced such a meteoric rise as Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler has over the past 12 months both on and off the oche.

He captured the imagination of the public after finishing runner-up in the 2023-24 PDC World Darts Championship and has only gone from strength-to-strength since. Extremely relatable to young fans due to his age, no player boasts a bigger fanbase than Littler, who has drawn plenty of new people to the sport and will be the biggest ratings draw at the tournament.

Arguably the most impressive thing about ‘The Nuke’ is how he’s maintained his extraordinarily high levels of performance since that World Championship run. In the space of less than 12 months, Littler has racked up 10 titles at senior level, including the ‘Premier League Darts’ and the ‘Grand Slam of Darts’. The 17-year-old has also recorded four ‘nine-darters’ and is notorious for his party-trick finishes at the oche, thrilling the crowd.

For Ryan Meikle, this is a free-hit. All the pressure was on him against Fallon Sherrock in the first-round, but the Ipswich Town fan came through vs the ‘Queen of the Palace’, winning 3-2 in a match low on quality but high on entertainment.

Meikle averaged just 83.53 in the last round and a similar showing here will see him get blown away by Littler, who is more than likely to average over 100.00, overwhelming Meikle with his relentless scoring power. How many legs Meikle wins depends entirely on Littler really but it would be a shock if he ended up taking a set from ‘The Nuke’. Expect a routine victory for Luke Littler on his return to Ally Pally.
