Luke Littler vs Michael van Gerwen Prediction

It was only a month back that Luke Littler lifted his first – and unlikely his last – PDC World Darts Championship title by beating Michael van Gerwen in the final at Alexandra Palace, and the immensely talented pair will lock horns again on opening night in Belfast.

As is so often the case with newly-crowned world champions, opponents appear to be raising their game against Littler, with the youngster having lost games recently despite averaging 108.50 (vs Jonny Clayton in the Winmau World Masters) and 105.12 (vs Gerwyn Price in the Bahrain Darts Masters).

Since his Ally Pally victory over Van Gerwen, Littler has also defeated the Dutchman at the Dutch Darts Masters just over a week ago, and appears to have psychological edge over him at the moment. MVG can’t be discounted of course, not least because he is a seven-time champion of the Premier League, but Littler is preferred here as he begins his defence of the Premier League title that he won on debut last year.
