Luke Humphries vs Peter Wright Prediction

As we predicted, Luke Humphries was determined to put a marker down in the third round against Nick Kenny as he overcame the lengthy break from before Christmas to beat his opponent 4-0. It was far from vintage Humphries however and he struggled early on as he tried to force it a little too quickly but he settled down and eased to the win eventually with an impressive 98.59 average.

He now meets Peter Wright who was struggling with a chest infection on Friday in his match against Jermaine Wattimena but he produced one of his best performances for some time. The two-time World Champion thoroughly outplayed the Dutchman to win 4-2 to progress to the last 16.

Wright’s scoring was strong with ten maximums and a 96.19 average and his checkouts were clinical with 45.2% (14/31). He will need to produce those levels, if not better, if he is to challenge Humphries here.

There is no love lost between these two players and Wright is trying to unsettle the defending champion with some comments ahead of this match. It will be interesting to see if they have impact on Humphries but our sense is that it will only serve to motivate him even further.

Humphries is a class apart right now and we expect him to get the win. Take Humphries to win and add the highest checkout to add value.
