Luke Humphries vs Michael van Gerwen Prediction

Luke Humphries will be eager to get back to winning ways after losing at the first hurdle in the previous two Premier League nights - 6-4 defeats to table-topper Luke Littler last week and Rob Cross the week before.

The world number one is still second in the table though, having won two nights so far, and triumphed in the only previous meeting with Michael van Gerwen in this year's competition on Night 1 in Belfast.

Van Gerwen, despite not reaching any finals, sits in the top four on account of his consistency in reaching the semi-finals. The Dutchman has done so in five of the six weeks so far, but his wayward doubling - he has converted just 34.5% of his doubles in the Premier League - has cost him more points.

Of the eight competitors, Van Gerwen was the only one who competed in the Players Championship events this week, choosing to enter enter on Monday where he lost in the first round. Hardly ideal preparation to face Humphries, who is fancied to progress.
