Since going all the way in Exeter on Night 4, Luke Humphries has suffered three straight quarter-final exits in the Premier League, which has allowed rival Luke Littler to take control at the top of the table. Such is the world number one's class though, it is surely only a matter of time before he gets back to winning ways.

Cool Hand Luke reached the quarter-finals of the European Darts Trophy over the weekend before losing to eventual champion Nathan Aspinall, while Night 8 opponent Chris Dobey lost in the second round of that event to an inspired Jermaine Wattimena.

Dobey is still way off the pace in the Premier League, having reached only his second semi-final last week courtesy of a win over bottom-of-the-pile Stephen Bunting.

Expect Humphries to come out with a point to prove in Newcastle, and he looks good value to cover a -1.5 legs deficit against one of the competition's strugglers.
