Maria Sakkari will need to improve significantly from what we’ve seen recently from her, as results have not been to her usual extremely high standards. Lucia Brozetti is not to be underestimated and she showed serious resilience to get past Maneiro, taking full advantage of the mistakes made by the Spaniard such as six double faults.

If Sakkari plays at her best, then the Greek is a match for any player in this tournament but whether we see that from her consistently over the course of this first round encounter is a different story. It would be no surprise if Sakkari started slowly and Bronzetti ended up taking advantage of that.
