Luca Van Assche will have to bounce back from defeat against Alex Michelsen on Thursday and he will have been frustrated by that loss. He won the first set and was leading the third set tiebreak 6-3 but contrived to lose it and then the final set. There are still plenty of positives for him to take however and the Frenchman will be ready to go again here.

He meets American Nishesh Basavareddy who picked up his first win as a pro on Thursday as he beat Juncheng Shang in four sets. With his opponent visibly struggling, Basavareddy did what he had to do with a consistent and solid performance to get the win.

He will have to raise his game against Van Assche as he was not overly pushed by Juncheng Shang in the end. Van Assche is playing well, has plenty of experience having reached the semis in this tournament last year, and he is our pick to get the win here and progress.
