Luca Nardi vs Marton Fucsovics prediction

The Hungarian returns to the event in which he was victorious last year, but knows the pressure is on in terms of defending ranking points. He’s not had the best of seasons so far, despite winning a Challenger event in Manama on hard courts. His clay court preparation has been somewhat indifferent, with a quarter-final loss at the Murcia Open to eventual winner Carlos Taberner followed by a round of 16 defeat to Marin Cilic at the Girona Challenger despite being the number one seed.

Nardi in comparison has not played on clay yet this season, and performed well at both Qatar and Dubai, getting through qualifying in both and making the quarter-final stage in the latter.

However, the Italian’s recent form has been poor, with three successive straight sets exits at both Indian Wells and Miami, with a Challenger in Pheonix sandwiched in between.

Fucsovics also defeated Nardi earlier this year in their only meeting, a qualifier in Dubai and we think the Hungarian, with greater clay court experience heading into the event, will begin his title defence with a win here.
