Lorenzo Musetti vs Alex de Minaur prediction

Lorenzo Musetti wowed the pro-Italian crowd as he booked his place in a maiden Masters 1000 semi-final courtesy of a 1-6 6-3 6-4 victory over defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The 13th seed recovered from a humbling opening set to pull off the shock and hand the three-time winner only his fourth ever defeat at the tournament. 

The Italian, who called the doctor in the opener, improved dramatically as he adjusted his tactics to attack the Greek’s ferocious forehand and it paid dividends as the sixth seed lost his way on serve.

Musetti will now battle Alex de Minaur for a spot in Sunday’s final after the Aussie crushed veteran Grigor Dimitrov 6-0 6-0.

The Bulgarian was very much out-of-sorts and looked completely lost as he fired just one winner and coughed up 28 unforced errors in a horror-show of a display.

Indeed, De Minaur needed just 44 minutes to triumph to tee up his third tour-level encounter with Musetti.

Musetti won the most recent tussle on the grass at Queen’s last year while Demon won in four sets at the 2022 Australian Open.

This will be their maiden showdown on the dirt with both players coming into this semi-final in fine form with eye-catching results so far this week. It could go either way and the best bet could be for both players to win a set.
