Loopy Godinez vs Julia Polastri Prediction
Mexico’s Loopy Godinez stepped up to replace her injured compatriot Yazmin Jauregui to take on Julia Polastri at UFC on ESPN 64 in Mexico City. The 31-year-old is coming off successive losses to Virna Jandiroba and Mackenzie Dern, both via unanimous decisions, but she will be eager to bounce back especially in front of her home support.
Polastri comes off a split-decision win over Cory McKenna last time out in what is her first win in the Octagon. The Brazilian earned her shot in the UFC by winning in Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2023 but then lost on her UFC debut to Josefine Knutsson.
That victory will have given Polastri some confidence but this fight does represent a major step up in quality for her. While Godinez have lost her last two fights, they have both come against high calibre opponents. She will be fired up to get back on track here and we fancy her chances of doing just that.
Expect a win for Godinez in from of her Mexican fans, and the route to victory will most likely be via the scorecards.
Prediction: Loopy Godinez to win by decision
