It was quite a one-sided first-leg at the Parc des Princes in Paris last weekend but Liverpool managed to pull off a slender 1-0 win thanks to a late Harvey Elliott strike in the French capital.

Liverpool Preview: Arne Slot’s machine

In the first-leg of this tie at the Parc des Princes last week, PSG were dominant with some excellent performances from the likes of Joao Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but nobody was a match for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, who kept the Reds in the game before they won it.

Elliott, a late substitute for the ineffective Mohamed Salah, scored the winner past a fairly dodgy Gianluigi Donnarumma to mean Slot’s Reds have a golden advantage ahead of the second-leg at Anfield this week.

Paris Saint-Germain Preview: Impressive PSG

Luis Enrique was left frustrated but emboldened by his side’s display the other night with the Parisiens now looking like a genuinely slick and serious team at European level, rather than the haphazard celebrity circus that has gone before this iteration.

As they romp to another French title this season, having not lost a single game in Ligue 1, PSG were able to make eight changes to their starting eleven at Roazhon Park at the weekend and they still managed to defeat in-form Rennes by four goals to one the other day.

Liverpool Team News: Gakpo a doubt again

Netherlands international attacker Cody Gakpo has been dealing with an ankle issue and he remains a doubt ahead of this second-leg. They do not have any other major issues, bar a few key players being a booking away from suspension such as captain Virgil van Dijk as well as Ibrahima Konate and Alexis Mac Allister.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota

Unavailable: Gomez (Injured), Bradley (Injured), Morton (Injured)

Questionable: Gakpo (Injured)

Paris Saint-Germain Team News: Rested & rotated

Luis Enrique was, as mentioned, able to switch eight players from his starting eleven at the weekend and that is due to the fact he is blessed with, once again, a fully fit and available squad. They will likely name a very similar eleven to last week as they did everything right bar the fairly crucial factor of scoring goals.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Barcola, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction

Liverpool will need to avoid simply resting on their laurels and the result they currently hold because if they sit back, there is very little chance they will get the fortune that they enjoyed the other day and this PSG side will score at least once. That means they could end up playing an attacking style, which could actually open them up further with the Parisiens also lethal on the counter-attack. Either way, goals should really be expected at Anfield in this second-leg.

Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain Tip: Over 2.5 goals
