Liudmila Samsonova vs Caroline Dolehide prediction

Liudmila Samsonova enjoyed a thoroughly impressive run to the quarter-finals of Indian Wells before losing to Aryna Sabalenka. She won matches against higher ranked seeds such as Daria Kasatkina and Jasmine Paolini. However, she has not tasted victory since after losing to Naomi Osaka in Miami and Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Stuttgart Open.

Caroline Dolehide brushed aside Elina Avanesyan 6-4 6-4 to make it through to the second-round. The American made a blistering start, racing to a 5-1 lead before being pegged back but still ultimately sealing the first set. She then went a break down in the second but reeled off five matches in a row to win.

Dolehide can cause problems for the world number 20 and may be able to take a set, but we still think Samsonova is good value to pick up her first win of the clay court season. Her aggressive style does not translate as well on clay, but she should still have enough quality in her game to get through.
