Linda Noskova vs Iga Swiatek prediction
Linda Noskova was prolific when it came to taking her chances in her first-round match with Maria Lourdes Carle, taking all five of her break point opportunities during her 7-5 6-1 win. She did struggle in the first set however, going 3-1 and 5-4 down but won nine of the last 10 games to romp home and set up a third-round match with Iga Swiatek.
The defending champion avoided another shock loss to Alexandra Eala, coming from behind to win 4-6 6-4 6-2. The Polish second seed, who had lost to the Filipino just a month ago in Miami, produced an error-strewn performance to go a set and a break down but regained her composure to win in three sets.
Swiatek does have a dominant 5-1 record against Noskova though this is their first encounter on clay. They last played earlier this year in Qatar, with the four-time Grand Slam champion winning 6-7 6-4 6-4.
Her second-round scare may have been something of a blessing for Swiatek who knows she has to improve her level if she is to regain her title. We think she’s decent value to win in straight sets.
