LILLE PREVIEW: FRENCH SIDE FLYING ON BACK OF MADRID DOUBLE

Not many would’ve believed you if you’d said that Lille would record victories over both Real and Atletico Madrid across consecutive Champions League games. But that’s exactly what they’ve done in the league phase, putting them on six points after three rounds of fixtures after defeat in their opening match away at Sporting Lisbon.

Goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has been a huge part of their success, making crucial saves for Bruno Genesio’s side on multiple occasions. Not to mention the goals of striker Jonathan David, who backed up his winning penalty against Real Madrid with a brave vs Atleti, with one of those goals also coming from the penalty spot.

JUVENTUS PREVIEW: LACK OF DISCIPLINE THIS TIME PUNISHES JUVE

Whilst going down to ten men didn’t prevent them from taking all three points against RB Leipzig, Juventus paid the price for a second red card of the league phase, this time for defender Danilo vs Stuttgart, losing 0-1 in Turin as the German side capitalised with a late winner despite the heroics of Juve goalkeeper Mattia Perin across the contest.

Since that result, Juventus have picked up five points from a possible nine in Serie A, drawing with both Inter Milan and Parma before beating Udinese 0-2 last time out. But after suffering their first defeat in the Champions League, it will be interesting to see how they react.

LILLE TEAM NEWS: GOMES, DAVID, SAHRAOUI TO START?

A number of players who started on the bench vs Atletico Madrid will more than likely start here, such as midfielder Angel Gomes and of course star forward David.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Chevalier; Meunier, Diakite, Mandi, Gudmundsson; Andre, Bouaddi; Zhegrova, Gomes, Sahraoui; David

JUVENTUS TEAM NEWS: DI GREGORIO OR PERIN TO GET NOD IN GOAL?

The big decision for Thiago Motta with goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio back from suspension is whether he comes back into the starting line-up, or whether Motta sticks with Perrin after his star performance against Stuttgart. Midfielders Nico Gonzalez and Douglas Luiz are likely to join Bremer and Milik on the sidelines.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Perin; Savona, Gatti, Kalulu, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Fagioli, Thuram; Conceicao, Vlahovic, Yildiz

UNAVAILABLE: Bremer (Injured), Danilo (Suspended), Milik (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Gonzalez (Injured), Luiz (Injured)

LILLE VS JUVENTUS PREDICTION

Neither of these two clubs have contested a draw yet in this season’s Champions League, but you get the impression that such a result wouldn’t be a bad one for either side in this game. Juventus have been hit hard by injuries and are away from home, whilst a point for Lille would further strengthen their own position in the league phase, although they’ll fancy their chances at getting more than that.

Expect a fairly tight encounter with Juventus likely to prioritise defensive stability and Lille balancing pushing bodies forward with the need to shut down the dangerous Vlahovic for the visitors. In the end, consider backing this one to finish level in the end.
