Leganes Preview: Big performances

Leganes have been desperately frustrated of late. In their final game before the March international break they went 2-0 up and lost 3-2 at home to Real Betis before returning by going 2-1 up and losing 3-2 against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu a couple of weeks ago.

Since then, they have shared a 1-1 draw with Osasuna at Butarque courtesy of an 87th minute equalising penalty scored by Dani Raba. Lega have been able to put in some impressive performances against good sides this season, including beating Atletico Madrid at home.

Barcelona Preview: Treble chasers

Hansi Flick is chasing a second treble of his career, having done so with Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 season, as the Blaugrana begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting four points clear of Real Madrid at the top-of-the-table in La Liga ahead of a Clasico next month.

The Catalans will also face Madrid in a Clasico Copa del Rey final, too, later this month and they have more than a foot in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, having hammered Borussia Dortmund by four goals to nil in the first-leg of their quarter-final tie in midweek.

Leganes Team News: Couple of injuries

Ahead of the visit of Barcelona to the Community of Madrid this weekend, Leganes are not dealing with any fresh injury concerns. Former Rangers left-back Borna Barisic remains sidelined alongside the versatile Enric Franquesa.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Dmitrovic; Sergio, Nastasic, Renato Tapia; Rosier, Cisse, Neyou, Javi Hernandez; Dani Raba; Juan Cruz, Diego Garcia

Unavailable: Barisic (Injured), Enric Franquesa (Injured)

Questionable:

Barcelona Team News: Lamine Yamal a doubt

After yet another excellent performance against Dortmund in midweek, Lamine Yamal has sustained a knock and could well be rested for this weekend. They remain without midfielders Marc Bernal, Marc Casado and key man Dani Olmo for the time being.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Inigo Martinez, Gerard Martin; Eric Garcia, De Jong; Ferran Torres, Gavi, Raphinha; Lewandowski

Unavailable: Ter Stegen (Injured), Marc Bernal (Injured), Marc Casado (Injured), Dani Olmo (Injured)

Questionable: Lamine Yamal (Injured)

Leganes vs Barcelona Prediction

Leganes have produced some impressive performances of late and against some of the better sides in La Liga. That was the even the case in the reverse fixture between these two when Lega won by a goal to nil in Barcelona thanks to a fourth minute winner scored by defender Sergio at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. Barca could rotate a fair bit this season but their UEFA Champions League tie against Dortmund is all but wrapped up anyway and so an entertaining away win would appear the likeliest outcome for this one.

Leganes vs Barcelona Tip: Barcelona to win & over 2.5 goals
