Leganes Preview: Struggling Lega

Leganes begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just a point and a place above the bottom three and the relegation places in La Liga. That gap was closed by 18th placed Valencia at Mestalla last weekend as Lega suffered a 2-0 loss to their fellow strugglers.

That made it three successive defeats for the hosts after they had lost to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey as another loss to Rayo Vallecano a couple of weeks ago. They are now winless since their shock defeat of Atletico Madrid at Butarque last month.

Alaves Preview: Alaves under pressure

In early December, Deportivo Alaves took the decision to sack manager Luis Garcia Plaza and he was replaced by former Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Coudet. That controversial and fairly bizarre decision has not helped them, though, as they continue to struggle in La Liga.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Getafe with Mauro Arambarri notching a 44th minute penalty at Mendizorroza. That means they have now managed just one victory in their last 12 matches across all competitions.

Leganes Team News: Barisic out

Former Rangers defender Borna Barisic joined Leganes during the winter transfer window but he is now unavailable due to a knee injury. Defensive midfielder Yvan Neyou remains unavailable due to suspension for the hosts, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-1-1): Dmitrovic; Juan Cruz, Rosier, Jorge Saenz, Nastasic, Javi Hernandez; Oscar, Brasanac, Renato Tapia; Dani Raba; Miguel de la Fuente

Unavailable: Barisic (Injured), Neyou (Suspended), Enric Franquesa (Injured)

Questionable: Cisse (Injured)

Alaves Team News: Couple of doubts

Ahead of their visit to the capital city this weekend, Alaves are dealing with a couple of injury doubts. Former Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan is a potential absentee alongside Tomas Conechny but goalkeeper Antonio Sivera has returned to full fitness.

Predicted XI (4-2-2-2): Antonio Sivera; Tenaglia, Abqar, Diarra, Manu Sanchez; Antonio Blanco, Ander Guevara; Carlos Vicente, Carlos Martin; Toni Martinez, Kike

Unavailable:

Questionable: Joan Jordan (Injured), Conechny (Injured)

Leganes vs Alaves Prediction

Leganes play a reasonably entertaining style of football with the coaching of Borja Jimenez. The capital city club have, though, still struggled for goals with a lack of quality in attacking areas. Eduardo Coudet was brought in to play a more proactive and entertaining style of football in charge of Alaves but they have regressed if anything. Both sides, despite the results, have attacking intentions and in what is a six-pointer, both will view this as a massive opportunity to get a vital win so both teams scoring would appear a good bet at Butarque.
