Leeds Rhinos Team News: Jarrod O’Connor named in squad after injury
Leeds Rhinos have been handed a boost by the news that Jarrod O’Connor is fit again and has been named in the squad but it would be no surprise if coach Brad Arthur takes the cautious approach with him. New signing Ethan Clark-Wood has also been named in the squad just several days after arriving from Australia but the centre is not expected to feature in this match.
Squad: Harry Newman, Ash Handley, Ryan Hall, Brodie Croft, Matt Frawley, Mikolaj Oledzki, Andy Ackers, Keenan Palasia, James Bentley, James McDonnell, Cameron Smith, Jarrod O’Connor, Sam Lisone, Morgan Gannon, Cooper Jenkins, Jake Connor, Tom Holroyd, Alfie Edgell, Tom Nicholson-Watton, Riley Lumb, Ethan Clark-Wood
Wakefield Trinity Team News: One change from Challenge Cup last week
Wakefield Trinity make one change from that side that hammered Goole Vikings 82-0 in the Challenge Cup last week as forward Isaiah Vagana returns from injury and replaces Isaac Shaw in the squad. They are still without a number of players through injury however as Seth Nikotemo, Cam Scott, Josh Griffin, Myles Lawford and Renouf Atoni are all unavailable.
Squad: Max Jowitt, Lachlan Walmsley, Corey Hall, Tom Johnstone, Jake Trueman, Oliver Russell, Mike McMeeken, Liam Hood, Ky Rodwell, Jay Pitts, Thomas Doyle, Caleb Hamlin-Uele, Matty Storton, Isaiah Vagana, Oliver Pratt, Mason Lino, Josh Rourke, Matty Russell, Jack Croft, Harvey Smith, Caius Faatili
Leeds Rhinos vs Wakefield Trinity Prediction
This is an intriguing match in the opening round of the Super League as Brad Arthur’s Leeds Rhinos have a point to prove after missing out on the play-offs last season while newcomers Wakefield Trinity will be keen to show they can compete after promotion.
The Rhinos have to be favoured to open the season with a win and while they were devastated to lose star signing Maika Sivo with an ACL injury which has ruled him out for the entire season, there are still plenty of reasons to be positive about their chances this season.
Headingley will be buzzing and they have some good pieces of the jigsaw in place with the likes of Ryan Hall and Jake Connor slotting in nicely. Wakey will be fired up against their West Yorkshire rivals but they will ultimately be outclassed here.
Leeds Rhinos vs Wakefield Trinity Tip: Leeds Rhinos to win -9.5
