Leeds Rhinos Team News: Key duo ruled out for Rhinos
Leeds Rhinos picked up a resounding win over Salford last week but it came at a heavy price as Brodie Smith and Cam Smith both picked up injuring ruling them out here. Smith should just miss one match but Smith will be out for a couple of months. Matt Frawley also has a hand injury but he is named and Brad Arthur will be hoping he can play through it here. Mikolaj Oledski and Jack Sinfield return from injuries to give some positive news for Arthur.
Squad: Harry Newman, Ash Handley, Ryan Hall, Matt Frawley, Mikolaj Oledzki, Andy Ackers, Keenan Palasia, James Bentley, James McDonnell, Jarrod O’Connor, Sam Lisone, Morgan Gannon, Cooper Jenkins, Jake Connor, Tom Holroyd, Jack Sinfield, Alfie Edgell, Tom Nicholson-Watton, Riley Lumb, Ethan Clark Wood, Jack Smith
Castleford Tigers Team News: Watts released from contract
The main news for the Castleford Tigers this week has been the release of Liam Watts from his contract with the club. Head coach Danny McGuire has brought in George Hill in Watts’ spot in the 21 and that is the only change from the squad that lost heavily against St Helens last week.
Squad: Tex Hoy, Zac Cini, Sam Wood, Innes Senior, Daejarn Asi, Liam Horne, George Lawler, Jeremiah Simbiken, Alex Mellor, Joe Westerman, Judah Rimbu, George Griffin, Luke Hooley, Josh Hodson, Muzz Mustapha, Sylvester Namo, Fletcher Rooney, Josh Simm, George Hill, Dan Okoro, Lee Kershaw
Leeds Rhinos vs Castleford Tigers Prediction
Leeds Rhinos are the heavy favourites coming into this West Yorkshire derby but they are without some key players. The absence of Brodie Croft and Cam Smith does not help their cause just at a time when they looked to be finding some cohesion.
They meet the Tigers who have released Watts somewhat unexpectedly and one wonders if there are some issues behind the scenes.
Danny McGuire will be facing some challenges like that and coming off a heavy loss for the first time as a head coach and it will be interesting to see how his men fare here.
The Rhinos are favoured to win by 16 points but the loss of Croft may impact their creativity. We fully expect the Rhinos to win and the Tigers are not inspiring much confidence right now, but we lean towards the unders in this one.
Leeds Rhinos vs Castleford Tigers Tip: Under 43.5 total points
