Le Havre Preview: Improving Le Havre

Under the management of former Middlesbrough manager Didier Digard, Le Havre are sitting just outside of the bottom three and the danger zone ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures after a much-improved recent run of form ahead of this one.

The hosts made it back-to-back victories last weekend with a comfortable 2-0 defeat of bottom-of-the-table and relegation-bound Montpellier Herault thanks to goals from Yann Kechta and Abdoulaye Toure in the first-half at Stade de la Mosson.

Rennes Preview: Improved Rennes

Stade Rennais took a while to show signs of improvement following the appointment of former Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli during the November international break but they appear to have finally touched upon something following some heavy spending in the winter window.

That said, though, they do come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Auxerre last weekend due to an 89th minute winner scored by defender Jubal. That means Rennes have now suffered three defeats in their last four matches in Ligue 1.

Le Havre Team News: Couple of doubts

Le Havre are dealing with a couple of injury doubts for this one ahead of the visit of Rennes such as Andy Logbo and Yann Kitala. As well as that duo, midfielder Daren Mosengo is a confirmed absentee due to a knee injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Gorgelin; Nego, Sangante, Lloris, Pembele; Toure, Mwanga; Casimir, Kechta, Joujou; Ahmed Hassan

Unavailable: Mosengo (Injured)

Questionable: Logbo (Injured), Kitala (Injured)

Rennes Team News: Blas a doubt

Alidu Seidu suffered an ACL injury in Jorge Sampaoli’s first game in charge back in November and he now remains sidelined for the visitors. They also have some key doubts such as defender Mikayil Faye and attacker Ludovic Blas.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Samba; Hateboer, Rouault, Brassier; Assignon, Cisse, Fofana, Truffert; Kalimuendo, Olaigbe; Meite

Unavailable: Seidu (Injured)

Questionable: Faye (Injured), Blas (Injured)

Le Havre vs Rennes Prediction

Le Havre have shown real signs of improvement of late and they will fancy their chances to now finally push themselves away from the danger zone. The hosts have shown a flexibility both in terms of their defensive stability as well as more of an attacking threat with just one loss in their last five matches. They now face a Rennes side that have themselves actually hit a rocky patch of form that has seen them now stumble back down into the bottom-half and a double chance in favour of Le Havre, given the fact it is at Stade Oceane, looks the way to go for this one.

Le Havre vs Rennes Tip: Double chance – Le Havre to win or draw
