Lazio Preview: The collapse of Lazio
Lazio had started the season very well under the management of former Hellas Verona boss Marco Baroni but they have continued to steadily decline and stagnate throughout the campaign and that continued with a poor defeat in the Arctic Circle in midweek.
Away against the Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie in midweek, Lazio suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Norwegians due to a second-half brace scored by Uli Saltnes at the Aspmyra Stadion.
Roma Preview: Ranieri’s Romans
After coming out of retirement to become Roma’s third permanent manager of the campaign back in the November international break, Claudio Ranieri has done a very good job in charge of the Giallorossi as they push back towards the European spots in Serie A.
The visitors shared a 1-1 draw with Juventus last weekend at the Olimpico, coming from a goal down via Uzbekistan international attacker Eldor Shomurudov during the second-half. That followed on from seven successive victories in the league.
Lazio Team News: Defensive injuries
Nuno Tavares enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign but the Arsenal loanee is now sidelined due to a thigh injury alongside Spanish defender Patric. Bayern Munich loanee Arijon Ibrahimovic is also a doubt due to a thigh issue.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Lazzari, Gila, Gigot, Pellegrini; Belahyane, Rovella; Tchaouna, Dele-Bashiru, Zaccagni; Dia
Unavailable: Patric (Injured), Tavares (Injured)
Questionable: Ibrahimovic (Injured)
Roma Team News: Couple of absentees
Ahead of the derby, Ranieri is having to deal with a couple of injury issues for this weekend such as Saudi Arabia international defender Saud Abdulhamid as well as Argentina international attacker Paulo Dybala.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Celik, Kone, Cristante, Angelino; Matias Soule, El Shaarawy; Dovbyk

Lazio vs Roma Prediction
Lazio’s defeat to Bodo/Glimt can potentially be put down to being due to the difficulty of the conditions of playing in the Arctic Circle and they will point towards a 1-0 win away to an out of form Atalanta as a sign they aren’t that bad at the moment. However, that was just their third victory in their last 11 matches across all competitions. Roma, on the other hand, have made themselves extremely difficult to beat and the likelihood for this one is a tense and aggressive affair in which the two sides cancel each other out in the Italian capital.
Lazio vs Roma Tip: Under 3.5 goals
