Lazio Preview: Thriving Lazio
Lazio begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots on goal difference. They appointed former Hellas Verona boss Marco Baroni over the summer after he performed a miracle to keep Verona up last season. They started the season slowly but have been much-improved in the last few months.
The capital city club come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat of Monza in their most recent outing at Stadio Brianteo a couple of weeks ago thanks to a 36th minute winner from Mattia Zaccagi. That means they have now won ten and lost just one of their last 11 matches across all competitions.
Bologna Preview: Brilliant Bologna
Last season, Bologna qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in over 60 years with a fifth placed finish in Serie A. They then lost manager Thiago Motta to Juventus as well as key players Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee to Arsenal and Manchester United, leading to a very slow start to the campaign.
That slow start has subsided, though, with Vincenzo Italiano beginning to get to grips with his side as they sit just outside of the top seven and the European spots with a game-in-hand. Bologna’s most recent outing saw them entertainingly defeat Roma by three goals to two at the Stadio Olimpico and extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to nine matches.
Lazio Team News: No Nuno
Former Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares has been in excellent form for Lazio but picked up an injury away with the Portuguese national team over the international break.
As well as the absence of Tavares, injury prone midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli is also still out with a knee injury, whilst key attacker Pedro is a doubt for this one.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Rovella, Matias Vecino; Pedro, Dia, Zaccagni
Unavailable: Tavares (Injured), Castrovilli (Injured)
Questionable: Pedro (Injured)
Bologna Team News: Remaining issues
Scotland international Lewis Ferguson has returned from an ACL injury as Bologna continue to look to rediscover their impressive style of football that saw them rise last season.
They are still dealing with a few issues as Oussama El Azzouzi is sidelined alongside Switzerland international duo Michel Aebischer and Dan Ndoye.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; De Silvestri, Beukema, Jhon Lucumi, Juan Miranda; Freuler, Pobega; Orsolini, Odgaard, Karlsson; Castro
Unavailable: El Azzouzi (Injured), Aebischer (Injured), Ndoye (Injured)

Lazio vs Bologna Prediction
Lazio have been magnificent in the last couple of months with Marco Baroni sticking with the 4-3-3 system implemented by both Tudor and Sarri last season but allowing for a bit more individualistic freedom in attacking areas. Bologna, also playing with a flair after getting to grips with Italiano’s methods, are likely to play on the front foot themselves with both teams scoring seeming a good bet for this one at the Stadio Olimpico.
