Las Palmas Preview: The Diego Martinez effect
Garcia Pimienta departed Las Palmas in the summer for Sevilla and was replaced by Luis Carrion but he departed in mid-October with the Canary Islanders rock-bottom in La Liga and still winless but the appointment of Diego Martinez have turned things around.
The home team come into this one on the back of a defeat to Elche in the cup last weekend but they have collected ten points from their last four matches in La Liga, most recently defeating Espanyol by a goal to nil before Christmas.
Getafe Preview: Jose Bordalas’ Getafe
In his second stint in charge of the club, Getafe begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places by just a point and a place. They are, as expected, comfortably the lowest scorers in the division.
They have scored just 11 goals in 18 games so far this season. Their most recent outing saw them edge past Segunda Division side Granada by a goal to nil last weekend in the Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey thanks to an extra-time winner scored by Borja Mayoral.

Las Palmas vs Getafe Prediction
Since the appointment of Diego Martinez, Las Palmas have been magnificent since the October international break. They have played nine matches in La Liga during his tenure with just two defeats in that streak. They now face a Getafe side that are the lowest scoring side in the league and are a fairly irritating team to watch play football from a neutral perspective. Las Palmas will be expected to win this, albeit the visitors will be confident of causing further frustration.
