Las Palmas Preview: Diego Martinez struggling

In the October international break, Las Palmas sacked manager Luis Carrion as they at the bottom-of-the-table without a victory. His replacement, Diego Martinez, allowed them to push into the middle-of-the-table but they have once again collapsed towards the drop.

The Canary Islanders come into this one on the back of an improved performance but they still suffered a 1-0 loss to Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin. That defeat in Andalusia means that they are now winless in their last nine matches across all competitions in 2025.

Alaves Preview: Eduardo Coudet struggling

Deportivo Alaves replaced Luis Garcia Plaza with former Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Coudet in early-December with the Basque side sacrificing consistent results in order to try and play a more attacking style of football but things have gone quite badly since that decision was made.

Alaves begin this weekend’s round of fixtures with just two victories in their 13 matches of the Eduardo Coudet reign but they do, admittedly, come into this on the back of the second win of that run, most recently defeating Villarreal by a goal to nil in the Basque Country last weekend.

Las Palmas Team News: Suspension issues

Reported Chelsea target Dario Essugo was sent off against Betis last weekend so he is now missing through suspension alongside both Scott McKenna and Alberto Moleiro, whilst Kirian Rodriguez continues to struggle with illness.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Cillessen; Viti, Alex Suarez, Juanma Herzog, Alex Munoz; Stefan Bajcetic, Jose Campana; Sandro, Javier Munoz, Januzaj; Silva

Unavailable: McKenna (Suspended), Pelmard (Injured), Dario Essugo (Suspended), Kirian Rodriguez (Illness), Alberto Moleiro (Suspended)

Questionable: Mika Marmol (Injured), Park (Injured)

Alaves Team News: Goalkeeping issues

Equatorial Guinea international goalkeeper Jesus Owono deputised well for the previously injured Antonio Sivera but the pair have since swapped roles and now the latter is missing through suspension with the former out injured so Alaves have major issues in goal this week.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Swiderski; Tenaglia, Abqar, Santiago Mourino, Manu Sanchez; Pau Cabanes, Ander Guevara, Joan Jordan, Carles Alena; Carlos Martin, Kike

Unavailable: Antonio Sivera (Suspended), Jesus Owono (Injured), Hugo Novoa (Injured), Carlos Benavidez (Injured), Antonio Blanco (Suspended), Conechny (Injured)

Questionable:

Las Palmas vs Alaves Prediction

Las Palmas are in desperate form at the moment and there is real concern that the Canary Islanders may well fall out of La Liga this season, especially with the improvement of Valencia and Alaves’ victory last weekend. Alaves, despite eventually going down to nine-men, managed to defeat an impressive Villarreal side to give themselves life when it appeared as though they were dead in the battle. Alaves will be confident as a result but neither side have the quality to really control the game and a low-scoring affair is likely for this one at Estadio Gran Canaria.

Las Palmas vs Alaves Tip: Under 3.5 goals
