Krzysztof Ratajski vs Alexis Toylo Prediction

Polish star Krzysztof Ratajski gets under way finally on Monday and he will be hoping to show why he is ranked 31 in the world and the top player from Poland. 

It has not been the best of years for the 47-year-old but he has had a solid enough 2024 and he will thoroughly expect to make it to the third round where he has been eliminated in each of the last two years. In 2021, he managed to go all the way to the quarter-finals. That would be a big ask based on his form this year but he will be confident of at least getting through this tie.

He meets Philippine 32-year-old Alexis Toylo who has been nicknamed the Rafael Nadal of the Darts world. He has all kinds of rituals before he throws his darts and does play at a slow pace. That always requires an adjustment by his opponents and can be frustrating.

He was outstanding in the first round as he beat Richard Veenstra 3-0. There was very little statistically that separated the two players who both averaged 86, but the key factor was Toylo’s impressive 50% checkout percentage (9/18) and that clinched it for him.

He will have to significantly improve the rest of his game if he is to trouble Ratajski but we expect the Pole to be able to outscore him heavily enough to ensure he gets the chances to checkout much more frequently than Toylo.
