Katie Volynets vs Petra Kvitova prediction

Katie Volynets lost in the second-round of the Charleston Open to compatriot Ashlyn Krueger. She then participated in a WTA 125k event in Oeiras last week, winning four matches without dropping a set as the second seed before losing in the final to Dalma Galfi in three sets.

That was by far her best result at an event this year, and the American will hope that can act as a springboard for more success on the tour over the next few months. 

Petra Kvitova’s return to professional tennis after having a child last year has not gone as planned, with successive first-round losses in Texas, Indian Wells and Miami. This is the first time the Czech player has started the season with more than two defeats in succession. 

The Czech is set to play her first match on clay in two years when she takes on Volynets. Unfortunately for the two-time Wimbledon champion, her lack of match experience on the surface is likely to count against her, and we think she will slump to a fourth successive loss since her return to the sport.
