Karen Khachanov vs Ben Shelton Prediction

Karen Khachanov comes of a hard-fought win over Jakub Mensik in his opening match and after losing the first set, he clicked into gear running out 3-6 6-0 6-3 winner.

That was a really strong performance and while he will feel there is still plenty of room for improvement, he will be happy with the way he fought back and produced the goods at key moments. His form so far in 2025 has been mediocre by his standards so he will look to build some form and momentum in the coming weeks and months.

Ben Shelton seems to save some of his best performances for tournaments in his homeland so the American will have high hopes for the Sunshine Double. He eased past Mariano Navone 6-3 6-2 in his opening match and the manner of the win will give him confidence ahead of this one.

The pair have never met before which is somewhat surprising but there is little dividing the two according to the bookies. Our vote goes to Shelton who seems to rise to the occasion in front of his home support and edge him to progress here.
