Karen Khachanov vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina prediction

Karen Khachanov made his first quarter-final of the year with a 7-5 6-4 win over Jaume Munar. The Russian had the opportunities to make the result even more comfortable but converted less than half of his break point opportunities. He also had to recover from going a break down in the second set, but managed to pull away from Munar as the set wore on.

He now takes on Alejandro Davidovich Fokina who finally earned a first win against Andrey Rublev at the sixth time of asking. The Spaniard completely controlled the match, getting the crucial late break at the end of the first set and ending up winning 7-5 6-4. He was aggressive from the start, with a total of 36 winners overall while he also closed out both sets expertly.

Davidovich Fokina is within sight of reaching consecutive clay court semi-finals. Khachanov is a fierce competitor and can grind away with the very best. It could be something of a slugfest between these two from the baseline, but Davidovich Fokina is playing some great stuff and we’re backing him to make it through.
