Karel Sedlacek vs Rhys Griffin Prediction
Karel Sedlacek returns to the Alexandra Palace stage to make his third appearance at the PDC World Darts Championship after what has almost certainly been his best year on the darting circuit.
The Czech thrower reached the semi-finals of Players Championship 16 in August addition to a quarter-final appearance earlier in the year, and he’s currently ranked 68th in the world heading into this first-round contest.
Debutant Rhys Griffin only earned his PDC Tour Card in January and this is very much uncharted territory for the Welshman, who made a televised appearance at the World Series of Darts Finals in September. The 27-year-old earned his spot after coming through the gruelling Tour Card Holder Qualifier event.
Having previously won a match on the world stage, Sedlacek will not be overawed but the occasion but there are bound to be some nerves in the Griffin camp on debut. Sedlacek is an experienced thrower and is fancied to book his place in the second round.
