Juventus Preview: Frustrated Bianconeri

The form of Juventus has left their supporters very frustrated with the Bianconeri sitting sixth in Serie A, despite being the only unbeaten side in Italy’s top-flight. They have managed just seven victories in their 18 games in the league with, remarkably, 11 draws.

The Old Lady come into the Super Cup on the back of a 2-2 draw with Fiorentina at the J Stadium in their most recent outing last weekend. They did lead twice in that game via a brace from Khephren Thuram but Fiorentina snatched a point late on via Riccardo Sottil.

AC Milan Preview: Under pressure Rossoneri

Paulo Fonseca was appointed AC Milan boss over the summer and he was greeted with scepticism from AC Milan supporters and the Rossoneri have underperformed throughout their campaign, despite some famous results against Internazionale and Real Madrid.

Over the New Year, he has now been replaced by former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao, taking charge of his first Rossoneri match this week. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Claudio Ranieri’s improving Roma side at San Siro last week.

Juventus Team News: Weah injury

Manuel Locatelli has a Serie A suspension to contend with but will be available for this game against Milan. They are dealing with some key injuries in other areas of the pitch such as key centre-back Bremer and United States international Timothy Weah.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Savona, Gatti, Kalulu, McKennie; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao, Koopmeiners, Mbangula; Vlahovic

Unavailable: Bremer (Injured), Juan Cabal (Injured), Weah (Injured), Milik (Injured)

AC Milan Team News: Attacking injuries

AC Milan have an abundance of attacking options this season after a busy summer transfer window but they have several injuries in the final third for this one with Christian Pulisic sidelined alongside key men such as Rafael Leao and Yunus Musah.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Maignan; Emerson Royal, Gabbia, Thiaw, Hernandez; Fofana; Bennacer, Terracciano; Reijnders; Abraham, Alvaro Morata

Unavailable: Florenzi (Injured), Musah (Injured), Loftus-Cheek (Injured), Pulisic (Injured), Chukwueze (Injured), Okafor (Injured), Jovic (Injured), Leao (Injured)

Questionable:

Juventus vs AC Milan Prediction

Juventus try to play on the front foot under Thiago Motta but have found it difficult to be efficient and incisive in the final third, often leading to games ending up at stalemate. AC Milan have the exact same issues but without the same level of defensive effectiveness and general caution and control on the ball. They are also likely to be even more reactive with the appointment of Conceicao. The likelihood is that the two teams use this game as preparation to attack the second-half of the season but if they are looking to develop their methods further then a low-scoring affair seems likely for this second semi-final.

Juventus vs AC Milan Tip: Under 2.5 goals
