Justin Engel, the 17-year-old German, has been given a wildcard for one of his home events. The world number 347 recently competed in two Challenger events in Girona and Menorca, losing in the first-round of both. He has played just two ATP Tour level matches in his career before.

His opponent in the first-round will be Fabian Marozsan. The Hungarian managed to make it through qualifying in Monte-Carlo, even taking the first set against Gael Monfils, but he eventually lost an entertaining battle in three sets. This included a lengthy 32-shot rally in the second set. Marozsan has struggled for form this season after reaching the third-round of the Australian Open, but he must hope that he has turned a corner ahead of a busy spring calendar. 

Engels will have the support of the crowd but is unlikely to cause any issues for Marozsan, who should make it through to the next stage with minimal fuss.
