Jule Niemeier vs Laura Siegemund prediction

Jule Niemeier will be seeking some home comfort after tumbling out of the world’s top 100.

The 25-year-old came through qualifying to reach the first round in Indian Wells, but it’s been largely a struggle so far this year on hard courts with just one main draw win from seven tournaments.

Niemeier is far more proficient on clay, but the wildcard will be seeking her first ever win in Stuttgart at the third time of asking. 

Standing in her way is fellow German and wildcard, Laura Siegemund. 

The 39-year-old veteran is also in poor form having won just one of her last six matches, but is highly experienced at this tournament with a 17-10 record that saw her reach back-to-back finals in 2016 and 2017, lifting the title in the second showpiece occasion. 

This will be their first ever meeting and it’s a tricky tie to call with Niemeier’s younger legs potentially a factor, but you can’t completely rule out Siegemund’s history at the event. 

The value looks to be in both players winning a set or a punt on Niemeier out-lasting the veteran.
