Joshua Van: 23-year-old looking for sixth win in seven UFC fights

Joshua Van (12-2) has responded incredibly well to his knockout loss to Charles Johnson last July, by winning his last two fights against good calibre opponents. He has picked up unanimous decision victories over Edgar Chairez at UFC 306 and then Cody Durden at UFC 310 to build some really good momentum. The 23-year-old from Myanmar is looking better with every fight and he looks like he still has plenty of room for improvement.

Rei Tsuruya: Road to UFC star aiming to maintain 100% record

Rei Tsuruya (10-0) has stepped up to this bout at UFC 313 with just three weeks’ notice but the Japanese flyweight will be hoping to take advantage of this golden opportunity. Tsuruya won on his UFC debut by picking up a unanimous decision victory over Carlos Hernandez at UFC 303 last June. He has won all ten of his professional MMA fights to date and he will be looking to continue that impressive streak in what is arguably the biggest fight of his career so far.

Joshua Van vs Rei Tsuruya Prediction

This flyweight bout on the prelims at UFC313 promises to be an absolute cracker as Joshua Van and Rei Tsuruya sure to put on an all-action and high-intensity fight.

Joshua Van has been fighting at a high level for a good couple of years which is all the more impressive given the fact he is only 23-years-old. That his one clear advantage he has over his opponent in this fight who is just one year younger but is Van who has been fighting at the higher level for longer.

Tsuruya is highly impressive and really well-rounded with all the characteristics of somebody who could go really far in the next couple of years in the UFC's flyweight division.

There is every chance the Japanese fighter steps upper level and produces the goods here but we have to favour Joshua Van given his body of work in the UFC so far. Either way, this could very well be a fight of the night candidate.

Prediction: Joshua Van to win
