Jonny Clayton vs Daryl Gurney Prediction
Jonny Clayton avoided becoming yet another seed to fall at this year’s PDC World Darts Championship but he came incredibly close to that fate, winning a sudden-death leg against Mickey Mansell in the second round on Monday.
The Welshman was below his usual standard in doubles, converting 35.7% of his finishes against the Northern Irishman, and will now look to reach the fourth round at Ally Pally for the fourth year in a row.
Daryl Gurney was involved in a titanic battle himself, coming from 2-1 down against Florian Hempel in a high-quality tungsten tussle.
‘Superchin’ averaged 98.51 and hit over 45% of his doubles in a fine display, and the two-time quarter-finalist will be feeling confident about his game heading into this clash.
Both played some exceptional darts at times in their respective second-round contests, and this could be an encounter that ebbs and flows with plenty of changes in momentum. Therefore, we’re tipping this to go over 4.5 sets.
Jonny Clayton vs Daryl Gurney Tip: Over 4.5 sets
