Joel Alvarez: Spaniard seeks back-to-back Performance of the Night awards
Joel Alvarez (21-3) is coming off a Performance of the Night display after he TKO’d Elves Brener in August. The Spaniard had a raft of injuries earlier in the year but impressed in his last fight and the submission specialist will be keen to follow that up here. He has won six of his last seven fights with his only loss coming at the hands of Arman Tsarukyan who TKO’d him in February 2022. Aside from that defeat, Alvarez has stopped all opponents in those six wins and he comes into this fight in excellent shape.
Drakkar Klose: 36-year-old seeks fifth successive win
Drakkar Klose (18-2-1) has won his last four fights and two of those victories have seen him win the Performance of the Night bonus. His last fight came at UFC 301 in May where he picked up a unanimous decision against Joaquim Silva in Brazil. Prior to that win, he had only thought three times in the four years before that and he will now look for his fifth win in a row and he will really look build some momentum to kick on in his career now.
Joel Alvarez vs Drakkar Klose Prediction
This is an excellent bout in the lightweight division between two rising fighters in Joel Alvarez and Drakkar Klose.
Joel Alvarez Is an impressive fighter and the Spaniard is getting better with every fight. He's technically outstanding with a wide array of submission skills on three of his six last wins have come by knockout. Overall, all 21 of his professional MMA victories have come by way of stoppage including 17 submissions.
Drakkar Klose is a hugely talented lightweight himself and his fights are always entertaining. He has reasonable power in his striking and an impressive work rate. He has only tasted defeats on two occasions and he is riding a four-fight win streak.
Much will depend on whether Klose can nullify all of Alvarez’s threats and that will not be easy. The Spaniard is a danger both with his striking and on the ground and it is hard to oppose him here. It would not surprise us if the durable Klose managed to take this fight the distance, but we have to favour Alvarez to get the win.
Prediction: Joel Alvarez to win
