Joao Fonseca vs Learner Tien Prediction

What a sensational week it has been for Joao Fonseca as the youngest player in the field this week. The 18-year-old Brazilian has been outstanding in winning every game and the most impressive thing about his week is his consistency levels. He absolutely dominated Luca Van Assche 4-2 4-2 4-1 on Saturday in the semi-finals and he is full of confidence after beating everybody put in his way this week so far.

He now meets the talented American Learner Tien who produced an outstanding comeback against Alex Michelsen on Saturday to progress to the final. Michelsen has been excellent all week but Tien managed to come back from 0-1 and 1-2 down to win 3-2 (2-4 4-2 1-4 4-0 4-1).

Tien’s aggression has been impressive and it is remarkable how he has managed to impose his will on the likes of Arthur Fils and Alex Michelsen.

It will be a really interesting match-up here between these two in-form players and who will come out on top. We full expect this to go to four or even five sets but our marginal preference is with Fonseca. His consistent high levels have impressed all week and he has shown he can dig in when he has to. We just give him the edge in what should be a quality final.
