Jiri Prochazka: Czech star looking to bounce back from title shot loss
Jiri Prochazka (30-5-1) is coming off a title shot setback after he lost for a second time to champion Alex Pereira last June. Once against the Brazilian stopped him by TKO and Pereira remains the only man to beat Prochazka since 2015. Otherwise, he has beaten everybody put in front of him and now he will face Jamahal Hill for the first time which will be a fascinating match-up.
Jamahal Hill: American aiming to get back to winning ways after Pereira loss
Jamahal Hill (12-2 with one no contest) is also coming off a knockout loss at the hands of Alex Pereira as he failed in his title shot back in April last year. Hill had been on a year prior to that with four successive wins and multiple Performance and Fight of the Night displays. He now looks to resent and it will be interesting to see how the American responds following that tough knockout loss.
Jiri Prochazka vs Jamahal Hill Prediction
On paper and according to the bookmakers odds, this fight is the closest and most evenly-matched on the entire UFC 311 and it will likely live up to expectation.
Both Prochazka and Hill are coming of knockout losses at the hands of Alex Pereira and it will be interesting to see how both respond from those. The winner will stay in contention while the loser will drop a touch and fall behind somewhat.
iHill maybe the older fighter but he has not been involved in nowhere near as many battles as Prochazka and that may help him here.
Prochazka has been fighting at a higher level and against higher calibre opponents for longer than Hill has. Only Pereira has stopped him since 2015 while Hill has a loss against Paul Craig in 2021 when he was TKO’d.
Despite being the marginal underdog, we prefer Prochazka coming into this one. There is a chance that time has caught up with him and potentially slowed him down but we just think there are more factors in his favour coming into this one.
Prediction: Jiri Prochazka to win
