Jessica Pegula vs Eva Lys prediction
Jessica Pegula began her clay court season in the best possible way with victory at the Charleston Open, defeating Sofia Kenin in the final. She looked to continue this run of form in Stuttgart but her six-match winning streak was halted by Ekaterina Alexandrova.
It’s still been a really solid year for the American third seed, having made the final of Miami and Adelaide and won the title in Texas. She will head into this tournament full of confidence and one of the favourites to reach the latter stages. She has already made the final of the event in 2022, where she lost to Ons Jabeur in three sets.
Eva Lys easily made it past 17-year-old Teodora Kostovic to make the second-round. It was a match that the German was expected to win but she still got the job done and can look forward to testing her game against one of the best players on the tour.
Despite exiting Stuttgart relatively early, Pegula will take so much confidence from winning her first clay court title a few weeks ago and she should get through very comfortably against Lys.
