Jessica Pegula vs Ekaterina Alexandrova prediction

Jessica Pegula recovered from a tough start to defeat compatriot Danielle Collins 1-6 6-3 6-0 and continue her perfect record against the player. The number one seed was forced to weather the storm in the first set, with Collins producing a number of winners, but she couldn’t maintain that level.

Pegula fell at the semi-final stage last year but will hope to go one better when she takes on Ekaterina Alexandrova in the last four.

Alexandrova produced a brilliant performance to defeat Qinwen Zheng in straight sets, not losing her serve once as she strolled to a 6-1 6-4 win. The Chinese third seed struggled with her serve all match with a first serve percentage of just 38%, but this was still an impressive win for the ninth seed, who hasn’t dropped a set in the tournament so far.

She leads the head-to-head against Pegula 2-1, winning the two most recent matches in Qatar and Miami, both at the quarter-final stage. Nevertheless, the American did win their only encounter on clay in Rome four years ago. Pegula will take a lot of confidence from outlasting Collins in the last round and we’re backing her to do the same here once again.
