Jessica Bouzas Maneiro vs Mayar Sherif prediction

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro has shown some promise on clay already this season, with back-to-back quarter final appearances in her first two tournaments of the year on the surface. She did suffer a disappointing defeat in Antalya as the second seed but did back it up with a similar run to the last eight in Rouen, which included a victory over Maria Sakkari.

She lost to Elina Svitolina in straight sets who went on to win the event, but Bouzas Maneiro can take some confidence from these two tournaments. 

Her opponent Mayar Sherif has not made inroads at all this season but has performed on clay in the past. She made the third-rounds of both Madrid and Rome last year before losing finals in Parma and Morocco back-to-back.

Sherif won their only match against each other in Parma two years ago, which was on clay. Given Sherif’s suitability on the surface, this could prove to be a very tight match between the pair but Bouzas Maneiro is in better form and we’re backing her to reach the next round.
