Jesper de Jong vs Andrey Rublev prediction
Jesper de Jong made it through qualifying in Barcelona, with victories over Lloyd Harris and Arthur Rinderknech in both stages. He’s had some deep runs already on the clay this season in Challenger events, making a semi-final appearance in Girona and reaching the final in the Murcia Open, though falling to a defeat against Carlos Taberner in three sets.
Andrey Rublev hopes he can get his clay court preparations back on track after a rather sobering loss to Arthur Fils in the round-of-16 stage at Monte-Carlo. The Russian was barely in the match, losing 6-2 6-3. He’s experienced something of a hangover since his win at the Qatar Open, with early losses in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and the first clay court Masters event of the year.
De Jong has shown he can compete on the surface already this season, but we think Rublev will prove to have too much for the world number 94 and win comfortably.
Jesper de Jong vs Andrey Rublev tip: Andrey Rublev to win 2-0
